Born in Sudan, Abdalla graduated from the National College of Art, Craft, and Design in Stockholm, Sweden. She has exhibited extensively in Scandinavia.

She received her master's degree in textile design and weaving, and apprenticed at Bayer of West Germany and at the Blue Nile Spinning and Weaving Factory in Khartoum, Egypt.

Abdalla has produced a series of television programs, educational workshops and post-graduate curricula in Saudi Arabia and Sudan. She lectures at King Faisal University in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, and manages an interior design consulting firm. Recently, she has come to the United States to study pottery.
