Title: Synaptic Incubations of Another Kind
Medium: Mixed Media Sculpture within Installation
Size: 4"h x 4 1/2"w x 4 1/2" D
"Synaptic Incubations of Another Kind" is a mixed media sculpture. The piece is part of a larger installation that explores hybrid environments as envisioned at some future time. This is a site-specific installation that explores how the boundaries between our human-made and biological environments can be blurred to suggest new environments that have elements of both.
The colored fishing lines and plastic tubing that I use in this work, animate the pieces and serve as metaphors for an operating system that is the lifeblood of any structure. I also use cut packaging paper that is very malleable and light to reference architectural models or organic patterns found in nature.
I am a mixed media painter and installation artist whose work is conceptual and very process oriented. Synaptic Incubations of Another Kind uses diverse materials and is fueled by current discussion about wearable technology, neuroscience and the environment and how the advances in these areas, will change how we perceive our environment and our place within it.
