Title: Falling Angel: The Belly Flop
Size: 26" x 25" x 25"
Ascher's low-fire clay, figurative sculptures are hand-built in a way that explores the expressiveness, strength, and flexibility of the material and are surfaced in underglazes and glazes.
Her work deals with issues of identity, isolation, and social interaction, exploring the premises and beliefs on which we base our social conduct in a sometimes ironic, sometimes affectionate way.
Ascher received her BFA from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada in 1983 and has been active professionally as an artist, art teacher, and curator. She has exhibited her work extensively in solo and group exhibitions and has realized several commissions.
