Betsy Sterling Benjamin is a American artist, textile researcher, and author of The World of Rozome: Wax Resist Textiles of Japan, Kodansha International Pub., 1995.
Her work on dyed silk is concerned with the texture of surface resists and the juxtaposition of color and pattern using themes of transformation and spirit.
As a resident of Japan from 1986 to 2000, she taught at two universities in Kyoto. She now continues to exhibit her work in Japan and the United States, lecturing abroad on Japanese fiber art and the history of costume.
