Initially a painter, Benyon began to make her own holograms in 1968 when holography was available only to scientists, and her aim was to enlarge the boundaries of what is traditionally seen as art.
Now working internationally from her own studio in Dorset, United Kingdom, she is exploring the naturalization of holography and the development of a female aesthetic.
She has had 13 solo exhibitions and 67 group shows in 14 countries, three University Fellowships, 11 awards, 34 publications, 62 reviews. Benyon has been interviewed on world-service TV and radio, and her work is included in 16 public collections world-wide, such as the V & A Museum, London, the Australian National Gallery, Canberra, and the MIT Museum, Boston.
