Formerly on the art faculty of Virginia Commonwealth University, Burns now works and resides in Baltimore, Maryland.

She has shown her work in New York at The Horn Gallery and The Joanna Dean Gallery, and in Washington at Gallery 10.

Elise Marie Burns works with interior spaces, using industrial felt, polygrit, and chalk, the impetus being an ongoing exploration of global symbols of light.
