Cattier paints on seventy five meter long rolls of paper, notebooks, diaries, or paper bags. One must unroll the roll of paper or flip through the diary to discover the painting.

The principal and the first inspiration of her work is movement: players acting on the stage, sea voyages, herds of gamboling donkeys.

The contrast between animated subjects and inert objects is also part of her research. For Cattier, color is synonymous with life and drawing is essentially spontaneous.
