Mona A. el-Bayoumi was born in Egypt and studied at The American University in Cairo. She received a BFA with emphasis in painting and drawing from Michigan State University in 1985. She has traveled extensively and resided throughout the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, and North America.

Her selected solo exhibitions include: Dwyer Gallery, East Lansing, Michigan, 1984; Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan, 1984; Palestine Cultural Evening, East Lansing, Michigan, 1985; and African Eye Collection, Washington, DC, 1994.
