el-Hicheri was born in Nabeul, Tunisia. She studied architecture, plastic and graphic arts, receiving a degree from the Art Institute of Tunis in 1976. Then she graduated from the Sorbonne in Paris in 1979 following studies in esthetics and engraving.
She is an educator who is active in Tunisian cultural affairs. She is a member of the Union of Tunisian Artists and of a commission of the Tunisian Ministry of Culture. Her work is in several public collections in the Arab world.
