Barbara Elam's work has been shown in over 200 exhibitions nationally and internationally, including the Fogg Art Museum, Cambridge, Massachusetts; Indianapolis Art Museum, and the Grand Palais des Champs-Elysees, Paris, and is included in a large number of museum, university, and private collections.

Elam's current works are evocative, ironic narratives depicting contemporary people juxtaposed against backgrounds drawn from art history. They convey a message about our temporary place in the bigger picture of eternity.
