Evans-Smith received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She won the Silver Poet Award in 1987 and '88, Kodak's Colorful Neighborhood Contest in 1990, and the Editors Choice Award in 1994.
She had a solo exhibition, The Way I See It, at The Ross Gallery, Pennsylvania in 1993.
