Geiger was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She grew up in a Brazil that was seething with grandiose ambitions. In 1951 when Geiger was not yet 20, the Sãn Paulo Biennal was instituted, bringing into the country's limited cultural milieu the voices of modern Europe and North America. Plans for an ultramodern capital were avidly discussed, and in Rio de Janeiro a Museum of Modern Art was founded. A small band of intrepid artists and intellectuals developed who were inspired by the rather chaotic atmosphere of experiment that prevailed politically and socially. Geiger had the good fortune to be noticed, when still very young.
Her solo exhibitions have been in Brazil, the United States, England, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Cuba.
She has participated in group exhibitions in Brazil, the United States, Germany, China, Japan, Switzerland, England, Italy, the Netherlands, France, Yugoslavia, and Scotland.
