Kwong's work is based on her wonderment of the natural world around us and within. Her sculptures are abstractions and syntheses of human, plant, and cellular forms, avoiding literal translations from nature in order to evoke multiple associations.
She is interested in the interrelationships of things microscopic and cosmic, and in the essence of things rather than in external characteristics.
Her selected exhibitions include: Ceramic Sculpture Invitational, Montgomery College, Rockville, Maryland, and Center of the Earth Gallery, Charlotte, North Carolina, 1995; Potent Matter / Pertinent Material: Contemporary Ceramic Sculptors, The School of The Art Institute of Chicago, Illinois, 1994; The 94 Invitational: Artists of Northeast Ohio, Cleveland Museum of Art, Ohio, 1994; solo show, The Clay Place, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 1994; solo show, South Bend Regional Art Museum, Indiana, 1993; and Clay National 1993, NCECA Conference, San Diego, California, 1993.
