Tracy Lambros, a native of Baltimore, Maryland received her Master of Fine Arts in Painting and her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from the Maryland Institute College of Art. From 1988 to 1997 Lambros lived in Manhattan, New York where she worked professionally in photography and advertising while maintaining a drawing and painting studio. From 1994 to 1995 she also was Assistant Gallery Director at An American Craftsman in Manhattan. Living in Los Angeles for a year, Lambros felt inspired by and began painting the seascapes and landscapes of Southern California in 1995 and then expanded her painting to include scenes of Maine, Maryland, and Virginia. Many of her works are "sky paintings" featuring intense atmosphere created in deep, saturated colors. In recent paintings she explores various ways of interpreting her natural surroundings through exploration of ideas of infinity, natural versus unnatural, and perceptions of truth and invention in nature.
