Laurent was born in Caracas, Venezuela and raised in France. She graduated cum laude from the Beaux-Arts in Paris. Her degree is in Painting. She also holds a license in Plastic Arts from St Charles University in Paris. Laurent has taught drawing and/or painting at Lycee Montaigne, Meudon Cultural Center, the city of Paris, and College of Marin. Being half American and half French is reflected in her work as the extremely pared down style reflecting neutrality.

While in Paris, she maintained a close relationship with Man Ray, Dali and Sonia Delaunay. Laurent was often commissioned to paint murals in hospitals, community spaces, restaurants, and private homes. During all her years in Paris, Laurent exhibited her paintings in galleries and museums as well as public and private shows throughout Europe and beyond.

From 1989 to 2004, Laurent resided in California and her work was regularly shown in galleries in both the Bay Area and New York. She moved back to France in 2004. Laurent teaches, curates shows and continues to accept commissions for work designed for private and public spaces. Laurent paints on canvas, paints murals, paints on furniture, and creates illustrations for catalogues such as Savoir Faire.
