Born in Algeria, Machado-Rico attended art school in Paris and worked in illustration and graphic design. She also worked with weaving and etching while in Canada. She has been working in video since 1993. Machado-Rico is currently painting and teaching art in France.

Since 1987, she has exhibited her work in France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, the United States, Russia, and Canada. Her work is in private collections in France.

She has produced radio broadcast publications and has been recognized by the French press.
