Elena Maijala Country: Finland

Maijala, a painter who lives in Helsinki, Finland, graduated with a business degree in Helsinki in 1974; then later from art school in 1990. She is a member of the Helsinki Art Society and the Finnish Painters' Association.

Her selected solo exhibitions include: Library of Hämeenlinna, 1989-91; Russian Cultural Center, Helsinki, 1990-91; Keski-Suomen Taidegalleria, 1991; Gallery Josette Meyer, Paris, 1991; and Galerie Ynsprugger Werkstatt, Innsbruck, Austria, 1992.

Her selected group exhibitions include: the 52nd Annual National Exhibition of Finnish Artists, where she was awarded first prize in 1990; Central Exhibition Hall, Leningrad, 1990 and Moscow, 1991; San Francisco Arts Festival, 1994; First Miami Beach Erotic Art Expo, 1995; The National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, DC, 1995; the Gallery Swan, 1995; and the Chicago Art Fair, 1996.
