Born in Syria, Mardam-Bey received her high school education in Damascus, Syria and graduated from Beirut Protestant College in Lebanon. She studied art privately in Bern, Switzerland and in Paris, and attended the Heatherly School of Art in London.

Selected solo exhibitions include: Patrick Seale Gallery, London, 1981; and Al-Nahda Women's Club, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, 1975.
