Working alone or on collaborative projects, Murray investigates and represents familiar aspects of our everyday lives as seen from a range of institutional and individual perspectives and contexts. Her resources are found in galleries, shops, factories, clubs, and public places, through broadcasts, publications, and video. She has exhibited her work at the Tate Gallery, Liverpool and the South Back Centre, London.

Murray supports her work by teaching at the University of Central Lancashire and with awards and commissions from the Arts Council of England, regional arts boards, local authorities, galleries, industries, and trusts.
