O'Sullivan lives and works in an extremely isolated town in the West of Ireland in a very de-populated area. She states, "Painting is my sanity, my sanctuary, my sense of life. Without it, I would die."
Trained and working as a milliner, she creates hats, silk scarves, stained glass designs, illustrations, and paintings. Color and texture play an important role in her art and her main inspiration comes from flowers, embroidery, and the arts and crafts movement. O'Sullivan sees all of her works as 'paintings' as they are sweeps of color and have a common thread between them.
Her mixed media paintings illustrate the book, Ceol na gCat (The Music of the Cats), co-authored and published by Colmaán Ó' Raghallaigh and herself, Cló Mhaigh Eo., 1995.
