Oiwake was born in Hyogo Prepecture, Japan. She graduated from the Ceramics Course at Kyoto City University of Arts. Oiwake won 3rd Prize at the Contemporary Craft Exhibition, sponsored by Asahi newspaper in 1995. Her works have been in solo and group exhibitions at several galleries in Kyoto, Osaka, Hyogo, Tokyo, and Shizuoka.

Her selected group exhibitions include: Contemporary Ceramic Art Menbachi (bowls for noodles) Grand Prize Exhibition sponsored by Nisshin food, 1996, '95, '94 and '93; Contemporary Craft Exhibition, sponsored by Asahi newspaper, 1996, '95, '94, '93, and '84; Craft Exhibition, sponsored by Itami City, 1993; International Potter Festival, England, 1991; Kobiten (Craft and Art Exhibition), sponsored by Kyoto City, 1982; and 6th Japanese Ceramic Art Exhibition, sponsored by Mainichi newspaper, 1981.
