Owens was born in Paris, France. She studied at the Beaux-Arts School and worked in the studio of Jean Jaudon. She also worked in Andre Lhote's studio and Othon Friez's studio. She attended the Ecole du Louvre and the Ecole de la Grand Chaumiere. She received her BA from the Sorbonne.
