The World's Women On-Line!

Plotnicka graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw, Poland. She is a performance and installation artist. She concerns herself with the in between: between performance and object, object and installation, video and performance, etc. In the scope of her work, one should not only distinguish the visible but also the invisible -- the elements of the "in between" are "for being and to be" rather than "to watch or for watching."

Neverending Performance is a kind of performance for a camera. Plotnicka looks through an ice-plate. Her face touches the ice. Her warmth and breath change the ice structure and thickness. First one sees only the ice-plate. After some time her face becomes visible, but the ice is always between her and the viewer.

Her selected exhibitions include: For seeing and for watching, BWA Gallery, Wroclaw, Poland, 1998; Neverending Performance, Center for Contemporary Art, Ujazdowski Castel, Warsaw, Poland, 1997; International Media Art Biennale WRO '97, Wroclaw, 1997; International Media Art Biennale WRO '96, Wroclaw, 1996; Forum Ost-West Bergisch Gladbach, Cologne, Germany, 1996; and Visible - Invisible, P.S.1 Museum, New York and Hef Apollohuis-Eindhoven, Holland, 1997.
