The World's Women On-Line!

Originally from Greece, Politopoulou-Kargsten was awarded a scholarship in 1957 enabling her to study in the United States for three years. She received a BS from Downer College, Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she met her Swedish husband. She and her husband lived in Stockholm, where she studied sculpture at the National School of Art and Design, and the Academe of Fine Arts; receiving her MFA in 1975. Following this, she and her family lived in New York and Athens.

Politopoulou-Kargsten's selected exhibitions include six solo exhibitions since 1974 in Stockholm, Geneva, and Athens. Her work has been represented at the National Gallery of Athens, in several European countries, and in the United States.

Greece-Sweden, two opposing poles - North and South; the marriage of which she strives to achieve in the structural synthesis of her work. It is her hope that these two vitally different traditions have found a common home in her work and to some degree have achieved equilibrium.
