Ramírez's work about the myths and rites of her culture are executed in painting and mixed media. Her work includes reliefs and sculptures of brass, sand or tezontle stone, and resin.

From 1978 to the present, her work has appeared in more than 120 collective exhibitions in Mexico, Japan, Poland, Germany, and Canada. She has shown her work in 7 solo exhibitions, including a show at the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico City, 1988.

Ramírez has received several awards and distinctions, including: the Woodcock Award for Intelectual Creativity, presented by the National Council for Culture and the Arts, 1992-93; the Second Rodin Grand Prize, 1988; and the Utsukushi-ga-hara, Open Air Museum, Japan.
