Ressler is a Professor of Art and Design in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, Purdue University. She states, "I have chosen photography as my politics: to see is the first step towards change." She has chosen the computer as her transformation tool, to shape, sculpt, paint, and reinvent her photographs.

She is the recipient of two NEA Fellowships.
