Shannon attempts to make a statement or pose a question with each element of a particular piece, so that the viewer is confronted and challenged by each work and its content. She combines her commitment to women's issues with her passion for metalworking. Some of her strongest sculptures represent heirlooms that are passed down through generations, much like stereotypes of women and men are passed from one generation to the next.
Her selected exhibitions include: Arts in Celebration Exhibition, South Hall Gallery, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, 1994; 3D x 11, Morlan Gallery, Transylvania University, Lexington, Kentucky, 1994; Sculpture & Collage, Artspace Gallery, Lexington, 1994; Salvage Crafts, Kentucky Art & Craft Foundation, Lousville, 1993; Kentucky Collective, Carnegie Arts Center, Covington, 1993; Rust Never Sleeps, Barnhart Gallery, University of Kentucky, 1993; Fine Arts Benefit Invitational, Singletary Center for the Arts, Lexington, 1992; and Grand Opening, H.B. Clark Gallery, Lexington, 1992.
Shannon is currently affiliated with Woman Made Gallery in Chicago. She is always interested in communicating with other artists and encourages contact at: 182 N. Broadway, #4, Lexington, KY 40507.
