Born in Jerusalem, Shoman resides in Amman, Jordan. She studied law in Beirut, Lebanon and Paris, France. In 1977 she joined the Fahrelnissa Zeid Royal Institute of Fine Arts in Jordan. She is the founder and director of Darat al-Funun in Amman, a gallery and visual resources center library dedicated to the stimulation of the visual arts in the Arab world.
Shoman is an active painter whose current focus is abstractions based upon the landscape and history of ancient Petra. Her work can be found in many museum collections.
Her selected exhibitions include: Forces of Change: Artists of the Arab World, The National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, DC, 1994; The South of the World, Marsala, Sicily, 1991; Salon d'Automne, Paris (yearly), 1987; The Legend of Petra II, Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts, Amman, 1993; and Formations by the Sea, Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts, Amman, 1986.
