|Catharine H. Stockbridge||
Title: Phoebe's Farm
Stockbridge explores color, light and form in two-dimensional provinces: collage, watercolor, oil, ink, and pastel. Sometimes a bit of magic occurs when she combines postage stamps and simple images with colored papers or pastels. Her subject matter includes: portraiture, children and animals at play, landscapes with bridges, and grids.
Stockbridge received her art education at Otis Art Institute of Los Angeles, California and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Massachusetts. Currently living in Brattleboro, Vermont, she divides her time between her artwork and a part time job as indexer / technical writer for Readex Business Newsbank in Chester, Vermont.
Her selected recent exhibitions include: Stratton Arts Festival, Stratton, Vermont, 1993 and '95; Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 1995; Keene Art Association, Keene, New Hampshire, 1989 and '95; North Dakota National Annual, North Dakota, 1995; New Mexico Art League, Albuquerque, New Mexico, 1993 and '95; Susquehanna Art Association, Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, 1994; North Coast Collage Society, Seattle, Washington, 1994; Oil Painters of America, Park Ridge, Illinois, 1994; Lake Worth Art League, Lake Worth, Florida, 1994; Florida Pastel Association, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, 1993; Northeast Watercolor Society, Trotting Horse Museum, Goshen, New York, 1993; and Solo Exhibition, Southern Vermont Art Center, Manchester, Vermont, 1993.
