Title: Thermals IV
Medium: Pastel on paper

Towgood received her BA in Drawing and Painting from California State University, Fullerton. She states, "I am exploring a painterly myth for myself to explain the power of what I see and feel. Nature is a mystery-- volcanic activity hidden from view by stream and the earth's crust. It is Fascinating not to know everything and to be out of control. Here my view widens past our own short time-table and lives. The connection to the body and viscera comes after I begin working as I translate that experience into something which suggests a personal connection-- a physical one. The hot flowing lava becomes the blood coursing through our arteries."
