Waltking received her BFA in Painting and Drawing from Pennsylvania State University, University Park. She currently teaches art to disadvantaged teenagers through Free Arts for Abused Children in Phoenix, Arizona. Previously, Waltking was Gallery Assistant at Brody's Gallery, Washington, DC; Artist-in-Residence at Garrison Elementary, received the Janet Stone Jones Foundations Grant from The National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, DC; and was Instructor at Penn State Arts and Crafts Center, University Park, Pennsylvania.
Waltking's artwork explores the relationship between psychological disorders and physiological processes. Juxtaposing words and images, as well as found objects and other materials, she seeks to capture the psychological reality experienced by individuals suffering from mental illness while simultaneously documenting the biological basis of the disease.
