Zurayk was born in Lebanon. She received her bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from the American University of Beirut, and her master's degree in Fine Arts from Harvard University, Massachusetts. Continuing her studies in Washington, DC, she graduated from George Washington University and the Corcoran School of Art. Zurayk is an active painter who has taught at the university level. For a time she was Director of the Alif Gallery in Washington. She has been an active member of the Arab American Cultural Foundation.
